We hate to nit pick but…

stethoscopeEach month we have a public health nurse come to our center. She helps keep us up to date on different policies and procedures and talks about different health topics.

This month we talked about all the crud going around. We haven’t had it in our center yet but one big thing going around right now is Lice!

We thought this would be a great time to review Lice and LBLC. Because we are a child care center, we are Nit Free. That means a child cannot come to Little Beginnings if they have live lice OR nits.

There is research indicating that the lice have become resistant to common treatments. The public health nurse brought this article to read.
Lice Resistant to Common Treatments in Many States

lice1If your child happens to get nits or lice, it is very important to pick those nits! Also, you can kill lice by smothering it with almost anything, it just takes a few hours being smothered and covered. Another good option that the lice don’t like is Tea Tree Oil.

Hopefully we won’t have to deal with this first hand but if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask.
