Licensing, NAEYC, and More
We have been busy behind the scenes at Little Beginnings! You may have noticed the piles of papers at the front desk, teachers hard at work at the computer, staff counting toys and books, and the office staff running around a little crazy.
That’s because it’s both licensing AND NAEYC renewal time… Don’t worry, the kids are still getting all the love and education like normal!
Licensing is done through the state. They are starting to make yearly visits to check in on centers so none can fall through the cracks. While here, they will look through all of our paperwork, look in on classrooms, and talk to the teachers. They are making sure we are following the rules and regulations from the state. At Little Beginnings, we don’t worry too much. We really do believe in following and enforcing rules. That’s why we keep reminding everyone when we notice something. We aren’t trying to nag, we just want what’s best for all.
With that idea of doing better, we are also accredited through NAEYC. This is a national association for the education of young children. They have created a higher set of standards for centers around the nation to uphold. We have chosen to work with them because we believe in doing our very best every time. We’ve been accredited for almost five years and are now up for the big renewal. This means re-doing our portfolios (to their new and even more up to date standards), making sure we are current on non-tangible things like how we speak to children and what the environment looks like, and that our policies and procedures reflect these standards. In the next few months, someone from NAEYC will also come out to visit our center. This is a day to show off our center and be proud of the work we do.
On top of all of that fun… We’re hiring! If you know of anyone who might be interested in joining our great team, please send them our way. We have some movement that will be happening with staff, which is awesome for them but also leaves some spots just waiting for someone great to fill.
