Dragonflies

The Dragonfly Room is for children from 4 to 5 years of age.  The Dragonfly Room is a room filled with new experiences, challenges, and successes.  Throughout this preschool year before kindergarten, it is our goal to foster a love of reading and learning in your child.  We will also focus on promoting self-help skills and independence to prepare your child for that next step of elementary school.  We are honored to have the time with your child and be a part of their learning experience.

During this last stage of preschool life, we use our nature-based curriculum for a fun-filled day of learning.  We love to experience art, stories, math, science, and most of all play!

We go outside to play and learn as much as possible.  We will use our outdoor classroom to not only get exercise and have fun but explore nature hands-on.  We will get dirty while we play… but that just means we are truly having a good time.  We recommend rubber boots for the spring and fall, croc-like shoes for the summer, and good snow boots for the winter months.

Preschool Goals & Objectives:

  • Encourage curiosity and build self-confidence by proving choices that stimulate and use self-motivation
  • Provide a warm environment for children to feel good about and build successful experiences in
  • Encourage a feeling of goodwill and sensitivities toward other children
  • Provide indoor and outdoor activities for the children to develop both fine and gross motor skills
  • Teach independence through problem-solving exploration
  • Teach cooperative play and interaction with one another recognizing that there are both individual and group needs involved
  • Provide educational areas of language, science, math, art, music, dramatic play, and both large and small muscle activities – These learning activities and experiences give opportunities for children to share and give them a feeling of accomplishment
  • Seek to model and provide a loving Christian atmosphere
